Legoland Deals! February 21, 2012

One of the best amusement parks for the 3 to 10 set (anything older than that might be too tame depending on your kid). Keep in mind that if you take kids younger than 3, that you will be limited as Legoland is very strict about their height requirement. They will measure your kid before allowing they on, so double-check using the poles at the entrance to every ride queue.

This place is so much fun for families. I love that it isn’t as commercial as Disney and nowhere near as expensive or crowded. However, it does get more crowded on the weekends and during school holidays. Besides, who doesn’t just love Legos! Given how much a single day ticket is, it may be worth your money to go for the resort membership if you think you will visit more than a couple of days.

Legoland is located in Carlsbad which is north of San Diego proper on the I-5.

As of 2/21/12 at 11:30 pm PST:

I am posting that there are a couple deals going on right now with Legoland for anyone that might be interested.

There is a coupon code I saw on retailmenot for a McDonalds, but 1 adult, get 1 child free. Code: mcdonalds1109063. Just checked on retailmenot, and this is a good code. Not sure how long this deal will last.

Legoland is offering a buy 3 memberships and get 1 child membership for free on their website. Again, I have no idea how long this deal will be offered.

$35 Junior Gym for 10 Open Play Sessions – limited time. January 19, 2012

The Best Daily Deals in SF Peninsula – Junior Gym – Ten Open Gym Sessions and Registration.

Great Living Social deal! $35 for 10 Open Play sessions plus registration at the Junior Gym in San Mateo. This deal expires in six days.

If you have an active toddler or preschooler, this is a great way to burn off some of that energy and build their gross motor skills. M has always loved any of the open play sessions at any gym we have gone to. Even at 3 1/2, he just prefers to explore and experiment on his own terms.  Structured gym and sports classes are rather lost on him still. It is so much fun to let your little one go crazy climbing, bouncing and swinging. This place is great in that it offers two open gym sessions Monday through Friday and one on Sunday. $14 for 2 Tix at Birch Aquarium in San Diego December 21, 2011

Great deal from Living Social for 2 adult tickets for $14 or a family pack for 4 for $23 to the Birch Aquarium in San Diego’s beautiful La Jolla. Admission is normally $14 adult and $9.50 for children. In my opinion, Monterey Bay Aquarium puts most of aquariums to shame, this is still a very nice aquarium and great fun for little ones in the San Diego area. The weather and scenery are beautiful, what more could you ask for? The Cove is conveniently nearby as well as the Mission Bay beach parks (no waves) for some water and sand fun.

$36 for 1 month of Swim Lessons

One Month of Indoor Swim Lessons by Plum District San Jose | Yipit.

Great deal for a month of swim lessons at the American Swim Academy for just $36. They have locations in Newark, Fremont, Livermore and Dublin and have heated indoor pools. This is a very popular swim center in the Tri-Cities area, and I’ve known many families who have done their swim lessons here. I would have taken my son here for lessons if we were still in Fremont. (I was waiting until he was 3 to do lessons without a parent in the pool.)

$49 Children’s Fairyland Family Membership Deal! November 7, 2011

Local Savings for San Francisco Bay Area.

Located at Lake Merritt (the jewel of Oakland), Children’s Fairyland is a friendly children’s park filled with storybook characters, rides and other child-friendly attractions. Saavy Source is offering 50% of their family membership deal at only $49. What a deal!

This is a wonderful place to take young children for a couple of hours of delightful fun without breaking the bank or driving hours to get to a very expensive amusement park. I must say another big attraction is the proximity of Fairyland to plenty of good eats. Some of them like True Burger are within walking distance. (Seriously, the best burger I have had in years and that toasted marshmallow milkshake is a very sweet treat that my son gulped down.) It is pretty easy to just pick up some food to do a picnic next to the lake at either Trader Joe’s (nearby on your drive in) or Whole Foods (within walking distance).

$59 Oakland Zoo Family membership! October 17, 2011

Filed under: Deals,Things to Do with Kids — lifeatwarpspeed @ 8:03 am

Local Savings for San Francisco Bay Area.

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! What kid doesn’t love animals? Grab this $59 Family membership deal for the Oakland zoo which is normally $99. (Look at offer for details about restrictions and limitations on this offer.)

I absolutely love the Oakland Zoo ( which is tucked conveniently in the Oakland Hills off 580. I really like it more than the San Francisco Zoo which I find too cold too often to be that enjoyable. You do get a bit of a work out from walking up and down the hills though. There is a play area for the kids and rides (ticketed separately). Open year round except Christmas and Thanksgiving.
