This is one of my all time favorite German style board games to play. The mobile pocket versions is totally free right now. This is an award winning app. This is perfect to whiling away time on your holiday travels for yourself or the kids. I love that you can opt to play locally over wi-fi or bluetooth so that you can play with whoever you are hanging out with.

I love that Ticket to Ride engages you in thinking strategically since you are not building routes in isolation.

Recommended ages 8 and up.

The Elements: A Visual Exploration on the App Store on iTunes.

This deal is not to be missed!

This Chemistry app is on sale today for a steal at $2.99. (Normally $13.99) It is a visually stunning and great supplement to anyone studying chemistry. This is far better than a run of the mill periodic table poster and really bring chemistry to life. This app was named one of the year’s top apps by the Apple Store.

My son just loves this app as he has mad love for all things related to chemistry right now. We were lucky enough to score a free one last year. After having it, this is a great deal. It really bring the periodic table to life with amazing, breathtaking images of various elements. The companion Molecules app is currently $2.99 and the Elements in Action is $0.99. The Elements Flashcards app is free. All of these are really fantastic supplement for studying chemistry.

“Elements is based on the internationally best-selling hard cover edition of The Elements by Theodore Gray, Popular Science Magazine’s Gray Matter columnist. ”

Highly recommended for anyone studying chemistry.

Tiny Airport – Toddler’s Seek & Find Activity Book. on the App Store on iTunes.

Quick grab this free app. This app is normally $2.99 and currently free for download. Wonderkind makes really wonderful interactive apps for young children. I really love this series of apps which are stuffed with lots of touchable features in each of the three scenes. Kids can uncover a treasure trove of hidden animated surprises with sound effects.  This would be a great app to show young children how an airport and an airplane work.

Recommended for older 2’s to age 6.

Camp Google: What’s it all about?.

Google is offering a free weekly series of fun interactive science activities throughout the summer. It blasts off this week with a week about oceans. So far, they  have weeks planned about music, nature, and space. Camp Google is designed for ages 7 to 10, but younger students can participate with parental assistance. You will need common household items to complete some of the science activities. This is a printable list of the supplies needed by week. https://storage.googleapis.com/gweb-camp.appspot.com/pdfs/camp-google-supplies_1507101027.pdf

Camp Google was designed in partnership with Nat Geo, the National Park Service and Khan Academy. Professionals in various disciplines participate and interact with students during the live streaming events.

This is a great interactive way to keep kids engaged and enthusiastic about science over the summer. I love that there are hands on activities that the whole family can do together as well. If you happen to miss a week and are just now finding out about this program, all the content is available to you on the website.
Recommended for age 7 to 10.

BulBul Apps – free on iTunes an Google Play

BulBul Apps – Free Kids Apps on the App Store on iTunes.

Bulbul Apps – Free Kids Apps – Android Apps on Google Play.

This is a great free kid’s library app of e-books. If you are looking for something to add to your device, this is a great free choice. Bulbul is available for the iPad, iPhone as well as on Google Play.
Children can read on their own or choose the read aloud option. The developer has a goal of adding one free storybook per week to this collection. This app is being developed collaboratively from artists, writers and animators from all over the world. This is a great option for bringing along a portable collection that includes folk tales and fairy tales that have stood the test of time.
I would much rather use an app like this to pass the time while waiting with my son for an appointment rather than streaming mindless video content. This is wonderful for parents to squeeze in extra reading time with their children when they have a few extra minutes.
