Old MacDonald is free again today.

Life at Warp Speed

Old MacDonald HD – by Duck Duck Moose for iPad on the iTunes App Store.

Do not miss out of this fabulous award-winning book app (for iPad and iPhone) geared for toddler from one of my all-time favorite app developers, Duck Duck Moose. This is a highly interactive app with 3 dozen activities designed around this age-old favorite Old MacDonald. The app can be listened to in multiple languages and various musical instruments as well. You can even record your child’s voice. This app is normally $1.99 but is currently available for free download. Duck Duck Moose apps are rarely ever discounted or free.

Duck Duck Moose makes several apps that we really love: Fish School (ABCs, numbers, colors), Park Math (early math) and Word Wagon (early phonics and spelling) which are all well worth the $1.99 paid app price. I highly recommend any of these apps.

Who didn’t love those I Spy books or those Hidden Picture Puzzles in Highlights Magazine when you were growing up? I suppose it isn’t a very well kept secret that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and playing with those I Spy books with my nieces.

Klicktock has recently released a follow up to their top rated, best selling Little Things App for the iPad called Little Things Forever for the iPhone and iPad. In honor of this, they are offering Little Things for free and have discounted Little Things Forever to $0.99. Both are normally $2.99. This is an awesome deal!

I love how this app offers up a different game every time you play…

App Store – Marble Math. ($1.99, not free)

App Store – Marble Math Junior.

I just noticed today that Marble Math Jr for iPad and iPhone is being offered today for free download. We are huge fans of Marble Math Junior by Artgig Studios ($1.99 – really well worth the paid app price.) over here at L@WS. It really makes it a lot of fun to practice math facts and mental math. It integrates a marble maze game with solving math problems. I really like that they will offer helps (hints) and also allow your child to replay the problem to solve it correctly. There are multiple levels of difficulty that you can set as your child masters various skills. This app is targeted for ages 5 to 8. My son could  play this app when 3 if it is set to drag versus roll control of the marble so it is useful for younger children who are mastering basic math skills.

The game makes it fun with little animations and obstacles that your child can interact with as they roll or drag the marble around the maze. As you solve the problems, you earn credits towards unlocking new marbles to play. You can also set up multiple users to accommodate more than one learner.

This app covers:

• shape recognition/matching
• sequencing number values and ordinals
• addition, subtraction and multiplication to 100
• identifying fractions
• counting money (USD, AUD, CAD, EUR or GBP)
• telling time
• completing addition equations

If you are looking for an app for older kids, Marble Math is designed for kids 9 to 12. However, this is not currently free for download.

Highly recommended for ages 5 t 8. It can also be used for younger gifted  learners if set to drag.
