Today’s app shout out is for Build a Train. This is definitely one of most played apps by our train (and car) mad 3 yo. Build A Train is designed for use on both the iPhone and iPad. There is a free lite version and a paid upgrade for $1.99. Perfect for any little one that is wild about trains.
You get to choose from a variety of engines and cars to build your own custom train. Then you operate your train by adjusting the train speed and switching signals while picking up your freight along the way. The paid version unlocks a variety of track maps. This is a very fun way to teach your child cause and effect as well as basic strategy and planning to complete their route pickups.
This has a fairly easy interface that some older toddlers can master. Most of the other train apps available are far more complicated to operate since they are intended for older users. Younger children will be amused and entertained playing with either an adult or an older child. For an easy and simple train app for babies and young toddlers, see my blog about Let’s Play Trains here https://lifeatwarpspeed.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/lets-play-with-the-trains-app-free/
Highly recommended for toddlers and preschoolers.
